Our July 2025 Monsoon Ride 2400 kms Across South India - 6 Days, 4 States, 5 Bikes
Monday, July 28, 2025Our July 2025 Monsoon Ride – 2400 kms Across South India
From Hyderabad to the hills, forests, and ghats of the South - this ride was everything we hoped for and more.
From July 1 to July 6, 2025, five of us set out on a ride that pushed our limits - physically, mentally, and mechanically. We covered 2400 kms across Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, over 6 days and 5 nights.
It wasn’t just a road trip. It felt like an endurance run and we’d do it all over again.
The Machines Behind the Madness
Our squad rolled out on 5 motorcycles:
-
Two Yamaha RX135s
-
One Bajaj NS200
-
One Yamaha R15
-
One Yamaha FZ
Each bike brought its own character to the ride. While my RX135 gave me a bit of a hard time (story coming soon), the other four performed flawlessly no breakdowns, no drama. Whether it was long highways, steep ghat sections, flooded roads, or sharp hairpins, they handled everything we threw at them.
One of the most unforgettable moments was a brutal mountain climb it completely drained us, but the view from the top made every drop of sweat worth it. That silence at the summit, broken only by the sound of the wind and our own disbelief - that’s why we ride.
The Route Changing Terrain, Changing Us
The first few photos from the ride show the actual route maps - a constantly shifting landscape of terrain, weather, and mood. One minute we were blasting down wide highways, and the next we were crawling through foggy hill roads with visibility barely a few metres.
Some of our favourite places along the way:
-
Penukonda, AP – Wide, open roads to ease into the journey
-
Kalur, KA – Twisties and forest views to wake up the soul
-
Coorg & Madikeri, KA – A coffee-scented dreamscape in the rain
-
Iritty & Kottiyoor, KL – Dense village forests, peaceful and surreal
-
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, KL – Roads that felt like a movie scene
-
Bandipur Tiger Reserve, KA – Misty forest sections that kept us alert
-
Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, TN – Wildlife, silence, and roads that curved like art
-
Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri, Mettupalayam & Doddabetta, TN – Fog, rain, cold winds and sharp hair pin bends and steep climbs that tested both rider and machine
Each of these places offered something unique from calm highways and intense twisties to lush valleys and mountain peaks. These weren’t just points on a map. They became part of the memory.
When the Rains Came
From Day 3 to Day 5, the monsoon joined the ride.
Boots filled with water, gloves stayed wet, and visors fogged up constantly. Roads got slippery, and we slowed down - not just in speed, but in thought. The ride got raw and real. We weren’t chasing a destination anymore, we were just riding through whatever came our way.
Sleep was rare most nights we barely got 5 to 7 hours but the spirit never dipped. These are the moments that test not just your gear and your bike, but your mindset.
And through it all, we had each other’s backs.
What This Ride Meant
The last long ride I did was back in 2022, on the same RX135. And despite all the problems this time, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.
This was my third time riding across Karnataka, and every single time it feels fresh. From the forests of Kerala to the misty peaks of Tamil Nadu, and the peaceful roads of Andhra South India in the monsoon is a dream for any rider.
Rides like this remind you why you fell in love with motorcycling in the first place. It’s not just about the bike. It’s about the stories. The struggle. The unexpected. The bond between friends. And the freedom that only the open road can offer.
Final Thoughts
If you’re reading this and thinking about planning your own ride, do it. Don’t overthink it. Prep your machine, trust your crew, and hit the road. The ride might not go as planned… and that’s exactly what makes it worth remembering.
Here’s to the next one.
Until then, ride safe, ride far.
